James and I were ‘set up’ by an old contact of mine in the City.

We met for a drink in a nice country pub, where he walked in looking more like a farmer than a fund manager.

I didn’t know much about him, except that he’d had a glittering career in the world of finance, but he was now spending time on his farm, and looking after a small number of private clients.

Plus, I’d been told that James could create a simplified version of the high-end trading strategy he used for his exclusive clients that he could teach to anyone …

… they wouldn’t need lots of time … they wouldn’t need a huge fund … and it would tap into one of the safest areas of the market.

It sounded fantastic. I was pretty excited and keen to make a good impression.

But as soon as James opened his mouth to explain, I knew I had a problem.

James spoke with such intelligence and understanding of the markets that it was almost impossible to understand him. I felt like I was asking Stephen Hawking to explain how a toaster works.

It was frustrating … here I could see that I had the most powerful trading strategy that’s ever been released to ‘little folk’ like us – but the brains behind it were just too … well, brainy!

But I wasn’t going to let an opportunity like this slip through my fingers, just because I was completely intimidated and overwhelmed by its creator. Instead, I’ve spent the last 9 months working with James … asking him stupid questions … and poking around in his encyclopedic brain …

It’s been tough – the result is so simple and powerful that I’m in no doubt that it’s been worthwhile.

We’ve built a system of simple steps that enables ANYONE (even if they’ve never traded before in their lives) to access a strategy that I never believed could be used by ‘people like us’.

But that’s not all.

To ensure that you fully understand the workings, James will send you an email every time he opens or closes a trade. (So, if you’re ever unclear about what to do – you can just copy his moves.)

Bringing this to market is one of the biggest coups of my career. I don’t believe there is anything else like this on the market – no strategy for ordinary traders comes with this kind of knowledge and experience behind it.

Because of the nature of this system, which depends on the liquidity of markets being ‘just right’, numbers MUST be limited.

  • Hello Mark & James,
Just arrived at this page. Are you still trading Income Raider as I don’t see any updates on trades placed since May 2015 3 months ago thanks Teresa

Hi Teresa, Income Raider is still trading. Apologies for the lack of results on the site. I’m away on holiday at the moment – will catch up on these when I’m back at the end of the month. Mark

As we wake up front page tabloid headlines ‘Shares soar to a record high’. The reality is the market was up 0.54% (hardly soaring) or the real headline shares barely unchanged since 1999 .. unless you include the dividend return. So the real value in the market is in the dividend. The market is stretched but we will help you extract as much of this value as we can, without taking the risk that this is another QE inflated piece of hyperbole.

Oil price volatility appears to be picking up once again. Given the impact on Jet Fuel, this makes EZJ a difficult stock to find the right entry point for, however we will look for the right time in the next two days. Beazley is in a sector unaffected by this commodity hiatus and with a 5% dividend this is our favourite this week.

  • hi mark,
Further to my comments last November, I am glad I returned the package now as it seems that in 3-4 months it has not made a profit. It certainly looks like another failed system. Sad!

    • A

      Hi Terence,

I’m going to be a lot more positive than you on this.

We launched Income Raider just as all the major indices dropped over 10% and suffered a 6.5% drawdown.

Since then James has been very conservative about entering the market, which is totally understandable considering the conditions, but we have recovered and to date we are just 2% down.

This is not where we wanted to be of course, but not a disaster and more than understandable in the circumstances.

The longer term performance for income raider is over 80%, which in the real world of trading, is a very good performance.

James continues to impress with his understanding of the driving forces behind the markets and we are just about to enter dividend season, which is potentially the most profitable period for income raider.

I’m still placing every trade and impressed with the strategy.

      Regards,

      Mark Rose

No problem perceived by the markets on Greece funding deal. We will look to keep the duration of any trade to a minimum and run tighter stops than normal. By doing this we can still take advantage of the dividends that are coming up but manage the risk of Greece suddenly becoming an issue to the markets in the coming days.

    James

Weakness in Astra Zeneca AZN is a very tempting early trade. However with YET Another round of Greek EU talk’s going on right now the risk reward is not good enough. Catlin and Melrose also on the agenda

Brent crude is UP 25% from its lows and is unchanged on the year. Yet all the talk of Deflation started when the Swiss central bank broke the peg. The central banks are using the action in commodity markets as a smokescreen for the currency war that is going on between Sweden , Denmark , Switzerland , Eurozone and Japan. This is building more and more complacency in equity markets. It is accepted that to fight the central banks is an extremely difficult thing to do but an awareness of what is going on helps us to manage the risk in our own portfolios.

CCC an early look at CCC shows that the stock is illiquid with huge bid offer spreads. It may be paying a10% special dividend but it is unsuitable to trade through spread betting. If you can sit on the bid through a CFD or physical stock there is an opportunity but for our strategy I have to pass on this one. MRO Melrose is also paying a special dividend of 6.9% going ex on the 23rd Feb the bid offer spread and liquidity on this one is good enough to add to our early watch list of AZN and CGL

I’m going to post some of James’s market comments here to give you all a flavour of what you can expect from Income Raider.

James is a hedge fund manger with experience of trading positions controlling £30 million of equities and/or commodities. To say he is the real deal would be an understatement, he’s probably the smartest trader I have ever met!

Very weak Chinese import numbers, a civil war in Ukraine and Alan Greenspan predicting that Greece will exit the euro. Ftse down less than 1% with all that bad news . its tough being a bear when the printing presses are churning out euros.

Apologies it has been a bit quiet on this review page.

James took the decision to sit out of the market as he is a very risk adverse trader and the conditions were extremely volatile.

We have been busy behind the scenes though.

We had already reviewed the trade entry criteria for the strategy, but over and above this we have been working on how we deliver the system, to make it the most effective and user friendly.

More details to follow on this in the very near future.

As for now we are fast approaching the busiest time of year for dividends to be paid, so expect things to start getting much more active on this page soon.

    Kind regards,

    Mark

James very sensibly stayed out of the markets this week so no Income Raider trades taken.

There are also some new developments to the strategy that will increase the number of trades and hopefully the profits made.

All trades are still based around the flow of money just prior to the shares paying the dividend. Below are the results from the upgraded version.

5th Income Sniper trade closes for a profit.

This was a classic Income Raider trade, closing pretty much on the open on the 6th after the Dividend payment had been made.

    • Hi Mark
I traded both of these (IG & Barratt) and neither won on the CMC account I traded, although it was only a small loss! It seems to me that it makes a big difference what time you close the trade. I just followed when I got the email from James. I have placed 3 trades and not yet won any. Looking at the size of your profit, I would say that I must have closed at a slightly different time to you but on James recommendation as market was going the wrong way.

      • A

        Hi Terence,

I’m doing the same as you and these are the results I’ve achieved on my CMC account.

There will of course be a bit of swings and roundabouts on the profit and loss figures depending on the exact time we open and close the trades, but these will even out over time.

        Regards,

        Mark

        • I decided to return the Income raider system for a refund. I have not seen anything like the trade returns shown in the above results list. I think my trial has been possibly a bad time for the system. I will watch this space to see how it goes and maybe try again later as it is a good system to use and quite easy to follow so I would like it to work.

  • A

2nd Income Raider trade closed for a loss.

And another sell off just after we open. Sensibly James reduced the risk on this trade, because of the market conditions.

  • A

    Hi Terence,

We’ve had nearly a 10% drop in most of the major global markets.

James has very sensibly been cautious.

Trials are designed to give you a chance to understand the strategy and see if it fits in with your investment approach and lifestyle.

60 days will give you plenty of time to assess this, even if that’s to realise that the system doesn’t trade enough to satisfy you!

    Kind regards,

    Mark Rose

    • Thanks Mark
3 trades and no wins in my trial so am returning the product. Maybe its a very bad time to use this strategy as your results list above indicated less than one loss per month. Unfortunately we have had 3 losers in my first 3 trades albeit only one big loser and 2 small losers. will look at this again as I like the strategy but maybe when markets are better suited to it.

  • HI Mark
The results above are great and the system seems sound enough having read the manual. However, since I have had the trial underway we have had only one trade which lost. I wonder if 60 days is long enough to trial this one. no trades in almost 2 weeks, or am I missing something. Of course I appreciate this happens in trading but still wonder about the trial period!

  • Hi Mark,

When will you publish last weeks results?

    Regards,
    Brian

    • A

      Hi Brian,

I already have on the 24th Sept post above?

No trades this week as brokers spreads were too wide.

      Regards,

      Mark

  • A quick point which has already been mentioned….

If you trade long of a stock then you are at the mercy of the overall market in terms of what the market does with regard to direction. Would it not therefore be sensible to open a carefully measured short position on FTSE Index Future to cover this potential risk?

    Cheers,
    Steve.

    • A

      Hi Steve,

Yes hedging is a way to reduce the risk and is something James covers in the manual and might use to protect an open position.

In the main however, keeping your risk within reasonable levels, aggregating your entries, trading lower risk instruments and exposing your funds for the minimum time period possible, are the best ways to protect your funds.

      Kind regards,

      Mark Rose

  • what if i dont have time on Wesnsesday morning to close the trade i can only do it in afternoon that wpuod be ok ?

    • A

      Hi Ramesh,

It’s a risk and how it would play out I’m afraid I can’t answer. Realistically you need to be able to check at the times recommended or respond to James email confirming he has closed.

      Kind regards,

      Mark

  • I am a little confused with regards to the advertising of this product. It argues against the ‘perils’ of trading with a directional bias yet to gain from the dividend payment you need to be trading long. So I can only presume that you would use the dividend to limit the risk exposure when wrong, which would account for the great win rate. If so, is there technical analysis involved or fundamentals or both for the directional bias and therefore the requirement for the subscription service?

    • A

      Hi Peter,

Some members prefer to follow James and trade only when he does, others prefer to learn the system and trade independently.

James wants to give everybody the time they need to become comfortable with his strategy.

with the 6 months free subscription you will know exactly what to do and when to do it, if after 6 months you prefer to simply follow James, rather than doing it for yourself, then you can continue to subscribe. If not you can continue to trade following the details laid out in the manual.

      Kind regards,

      Mark

1st Income Raider trade closed for a loss.

Ok, so not the start we’d hoped for. Plain and simply there was a sell off across all the major indices on Monday/Tuesday and our trade got caught in this.

CAN YOU EXPLAINAN THE STAKING PLAN AND WHAT THE DIFFERENCE WOULD BE IF TRADING AT LEVEL STAKES?

ALSO CAN YOU ADVISE ON WHAT THE AVERAGE PIP DRADOWN IS?

    REGARDS

    LESLIE

    • A

      Hi Leslie,

Trading level stakes wouldn’t be advised. Trading level risk is.

Because the share we trade are different sizes a 50 point move on one share might equate to a 1% risk at £1 per point when on another share it could equate to 10% risk.

Any trading strategy where the stop distance in points vary, you should be increasing or decreasing your stake per point accordingly.

      Kind regards,

      Mark Rose

  • I am sorry to question this system as I have not yet tried it BUT… I was under the impression that the share price was adjusted by the dividend payments PRECISELY to stop this behaviour. I am sure the SB companies will not give away money unnecessarily. Please clarify if possible without giving too much away of course.

    • A

      Hi Neil,

Your absolutely right the share price is adjusted down by the dividend payment before the open on Wednesday morning, so where we have gained on the dividend payment we have lost the same amount on the buy trade as the share price opens lower.

What IncomeTrader benefits from is the fact that there is usually a positive reaction to the share price of companies going ex-dividend as institutional money flows in and trading volumes increase.

That coupled with the security of a relatively safe environment (major company, paying dividends) with all other things being equal, gives us the best chance of a profitable trade.

      Kind regards,

      Mark Rose

  • A

    Hi Brian,

We are checking just after the UK open at 8am (GMT) and often come out of the trades there and then.

If not we will check at the US open 2.30pm (GMT) and again just before the UK close at 4pm (GMT).

I may be wrong but I expect as we are trading UK shares your broker will only allow you to trade when the underlying market is open (8am to 4.30pm GMT).

    Regards,

    Mark

  • Hi Mark,

Because of the time difference in Australia, what time do trades close?
If too late for us down here may have to wait 4/5 hours and close am. Would this be a problem?

    Thanks Again,
    Brian

  • MARK
HOW MUCH SCREEN TIME IS REQUIRED FOR THIS SYSTEM?

    • A

      Hi Leslie,

It only takes a few minutes really.

We open trades on Monday and Tuesday, so let’s say 5 minutes for each of those and then from Wednesday we are checking 3 times a day (or you can just wait for James’ s email if you don’t want to check for yourself) looking to close the trades.

Most trades tend to close on the Wednesday, but it is possible a trade might stay open until Friday evening.

      Kind regards,

      Mark

  • Ray Zerafa

    Hi Mark,
Thanks again for your comments. Much appreciated.
I intend to get in on this and apply on Monday. Is it worth me opening an account with CMC on Monday as well, or should I wait and get the manual first? I’m just wondering if the application to open the account should be made through James’ website.
    Regards
    Ray

    • A

      Hi Ray,

Thanks for the comment and I see you’ve signed up this morning.

We are working on getting CMC to offer an incentive to new Income Raider clients, but don’t think this is in place yet i’m afraid.

Can IR be traded successfully with CFDs if we in Australia cannot use Spread Betting?
If so will it give different results?
Need to check with CMC and IG if they trade on UK shares.

    Regards,
    Brian

      Hi Brian,

CFD prices tend to be a bit tighter than spreadbets, so you could actually benefit from this over spreadbetting. Unfortunately you will have to pay the Tax on your profits, but then that’s a nice problem to have.

      Regards,

      Mark

  • Hi mark
I have just received the manual and to be honest its a bit complicated to grasp on one read. fortunately the emails should negate the necessity to understand at first read as you can just follow the recommendations. I look forward to what happens next week with great anticipation! I am hoping you can demo trade first though.

      Hi Terence,

That’s exactly the idea. The educational emails make a clever idea, simple to breakdown into bite size pieces and so nobody should get lost along the way.

James is also on hand to help with any specific questions you may have.

      Kind regards,

      Mark Rose

  • Hi Mark,

    Your comments most welcome.
For those of us who are outside the UK will we still be liable for the 10% tax liability from CMC?
Also are we able to open an account with CMC and trade from Australia (and other countries for that matter).

    Thanks,
    Brian

    • A

      Now that’s an interest question!

The easy bit first. Yes you can trade Income Raider from outside the UK. You’ll use a local broker and I’m pretty sure CMC and IG have a presence in Australia.

If you have a UK address you can open a spread bet account within the UK, but if not you’ll need to open a CFD account locally.

Now for the interesting bit. The 10% tax adjustment isn’t really anything to do with tax, or at least the tax man doesn’t see any of the money.

As we never own any shares and therefore don’t really receive a dividend, there is no tax for us to pay.

The deduction is really a chance for the brokers to cream a margin and I guess prevents cleverer people than me coming up with ways to arbitrage the inconsistency.

I’m afraid this will be the same with brokers outside of the UK as they are never ones to miss a trick.

      Kind regards,

      Mark Rose

Thanks for your concise answer Mark.
I think I’ll give this a go. Sounds a little different to the norm, but I figure I should know within the 60 days whether it will work for me or not. I like the fact that the set-ups are backed up by e-mail from James. This should give added confidence.
Keep up the good work, and thanks again.

      Hi Ray,

Great stuff. I’m expecting our first potential trades list to be sent this evening and our first trade for real on Monday morning.

    Hi Ray,

As with all systems some brokers are better suited to Income Trader than others, specifically this is to do with the amount of the dividend adjustments they pay.

The best we can get is 90% (they hold back 10% to cover the tax liability, otherwise you would actually earn more dividend from the spreadbet than you would from owning the shares), but some firms only pay 80% and keep an extra 10% for themselves.

Not surprisingly if you are short the share (and so you have to pay them) they charge the full 90%!

Anyway, as long as your broker pays 90% you should be ok. From your list ETX and IG do. I don’t thing GKFX are set up for trades on FTSE stocks so would avoid these.

The best firm is CMC as there spread and margin requirements are tighter.

Minimum stakes vary from £1 to 50p, so you can start of small and build up as you gain confidence.

    Mark

    Hi Mark,

I always read your bulletin with great interest. Keep up the good work.

Really interested in Income Raider. Just a couple of questions, which may also be of interest to other prospective purchasers.
    a) Does this need a specific broker? I don’t recognize some of the ticker symbols from the track record above. I have accounts at IG, ETX, GKFX etc. It would be good to trade ALL the trade suggestions/set-ups in order to get the same results as James.
    b) Once we have given the strategy time, and we gain confidence in the scheme, are we then able to ramp up the stakes bit by bit. I am not trying to run before I can walk, I am just trying to gauge the strategies full potential.

I like the idea of the steady profits shown in the track record, as like many traders, both new and experienced what we are looking for is some degree of consistency in our trading, rather than the promise of exaggerated profits.

    Many Thanks
    Ray

I’ve had a couple of questions on how Income Raider works, so thought I’d post my answers here.

The Income Raider manual explains the whole process of which stocks we trade and when, so if you prefer to go it alone you can do so.

    However, as part of your ongoing education, James also sends out a series of emails each week, so you know exactly what he has done and when he has done it. These include;

    Friday:
1: I will email the list of stocks I’m watching.
2: Close any remaining positions ahead of the weekend.
3: End of Week review from me.

    Monday:
1: General comment email from me around the market open.
2: Opening update from me if I have traded.

    Tuesday:
1: Opening update from me if I have traded.
    .
    Wednesday:
1: Update detailing dividend paid, if we have positions.
2: Expect a Closing Signal from this time.

    Thursday:
1: Update if position still open.

Hopefully the combination of the manual and the back up emails shouldn’t leave anybody in any doubt about what to do.

For all of you that have signed up already your manuals were sent out yesterday and we are looking forward to placing our first trades with you on Monday.

    Kind regards,

    Mark

I thought it would be useful to post the Income Raider Track record.

I’ll update this as we go along, hopefully with the new trade we should open on Monday.

    Income Raider Track Record

    • Hi Mark,
Thanks for posting the Income Raider track record. I note that some of the trades were not ex-dividend days (RIO on 12/12/13, BLT on 16/12/13, RIO on 27/12/13, ULVR on 28/1/14, etc). Were these straight spread bets, rather than dividend capture? Also, the shares have fallen significantly on most of the ex-dividend days, which would have negated any profits from the dividend. I do not see how one could make the profit shown in the table, given the fall in the share price on the ex-dividend date.

      • A

        Hi BG,

Those particular trades were closed ahead of the XD event as they either had good profits or weren’t working.

The shares will drop when the go ex-dividend, the question is all whether they drop by more or less than the dividend payment.

        Kind regards,

        Mark

  • Hi Mark,

Are you currently trading this and if so can you publish your weekly results here as you have done on other systems you follow.

I got caught badly with MRP Strategy so am a little cautious now.

    Cheers,
    Brian

    • A

      Hi Brian.

      Yep will do.

We aren’t trading this week as the quarterly expiry of index futures and the changes in FTSE 100 constituents increase volatility and trading volumes.

Alongside the referendum it is certainly a big week for the UK Market and not the sort of environment Income Raider would want to expose funds to.

      Regards,

      Mark

  • Hi Mark,
As we all know the stock markets have been slowly climbing for the last 5 years towards all time highs. How would this system cope with a big sell off ?

    Thanks Rob

    • A

      Hi Rob,

We are looking at individual shares, holding positions for a matter of days and only trading after the companies have filed their accounts.

The idea is to reduce the risk as much as possible by avoiding volatile markets and only exposing our pot to risk for the shortest time possible.

Even in a downturn, there is a flow of funds into dividend paying companies, which is what Income Raider is designed to capture.

      Regards,

      Mark Rose
